Delegates Committee

WAI Delegates Page

This page is for WAI delegates—each AA group can elect a representative (delegate) who can represent an AA group and vote on WAI business matters. Delegates can also join or chair WAI service committees and involve their group in alcathons, social events, treatment commitments, and other 12th Step work.

Note that local districts (i.e., Districts 23, 24, 25, 26) can have an District Liaison to represent a district. Each district liason represents one district (Note: WAI has its own Area Liaison to represent Worcester Area Intergroup at Area 30 assemblies and meetings).

If you are thinking "I'm not needed here," or "WAI can function without me," here are some reasons why an intergroup delegate is needed.

To ensure your AA group’s voice is heard, as a WAI delegate you can:

  1. Change the location of the WAI office
  2. Elect (or stand for) a committee chair position
  3. With a majority vote, at any time, call a special delegates meeting
  4. Approve or disapprove the proposed budget for the upcoming year
  5. Approve or disapprove all major purchases or lease obligations
  6. Approve, disapprove, or question meeting minutes and treasurer's reports
  7. Approve or disapprove of proposed changes to the WAI Guidelines
  8. With prior notice and majority approval, change the WAI Guidelines
